My weight changes: 42k -> 5k 5.5k -> 650 3k -> 350 2k -> 250 Seeing between 8 and 8 1/2 reduction, Im not too worried yet as its all in perspective to everything else Problem was for me as a newbie as I was just starting to get my head around weight What would people now assume was a decent starting weight, say around 5k which is now about 500, is this a good indication? Cheers
Heh, I always thought you had to run the ads sitewide, a sub-folder was not good enough. Oh, well So, with the cap removed, you are saying that above 4,500 pages (or whatever it was) there will be more weight given...just at a lower marginal rate, right?

Was losing Ranking.... freaking out... checked weight.... really freaked out!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Came running to the forum with the intention of...... Almost posted in the wrong forum because I couldn't think straight after seeing only 1/10th of the weight I used to have.... Calmed down... found this thread.... feeling a little better.
Yep. I was getting ready to post my 5x drop until I saw this post at the TOP of the weight question section. good thread title saved me the embarrassment.
But so many others were hasty and provided TOPS with a bunch of work. I dunno if that is good or bad.
was more than a little disconcerting to see my weight drop from 180k to 50k feel much better now, thanks for the hard work and a great application =)
Honey, You actually came out on top. because the drop was by a factor of just four. The total network weight went down by six times. So basically your weight is up by almost a third, if I understand correctly. A few of my sites are down because of some footer issues Once they get fixed I'll have a tun of weight also.
And how is the weight calculated now? Still PR and Total indexed pages via API? You should email everyone! I was going mad!
Wow - does everyone watch their weight *that* closely? Must admit I'm glad I read this thread before I checked and agree with the suggestion of putting a message explaining what's happened on the validation page. Shawn: would you be willing to share with us the formula? You said it uses a log scale now - what base? Assuming it still uses PR and page count - is the PR influence also log? I understand if you don't want to give away all the details (though can't see any real harm in it) but if you don't I would predict that there will be lots of posts along the lines of: My site is PRX with YYYY pages in google and my weight is ZZZZ until people figure it out (or think they have) Not that it's really important - all we need to know is that we need as many pages as possible in the google index and as much PR on the home-page as possible. Go figure.. Anyway - glad to see the changes - only one 'gripe' (if you can call it that) Now I have to go back and re-group my sites to distribute the weight correctly - any chance you'll increase the number of active ads allowed per account, based on number of consolidated accounts, so that we can just link all our accounts to one master account? I know it's been discussed before, but seems appropriate to mention it again.
Here is a rundown report of changes I've been tracking: Previous | New | % of Previous --------------------------------- 67,500 | 24,000 | 36% (this one is mine) 100,000 | 10,000 | 10% 120,000 | 22,000 | 18% 29,000 | 3,000 | 10% 1,200,000 | 220,000 | 18% 1,000,000 | 111,000 | 11% (someone reported 1/9th, I used hard numbers) 202,000 | 44,000 | 22% 42,000 | 5,000 | 12% 5,500 | 650 | 12% 3,000 | 350 | 12% 2,000 | 250 | 13% 1,000,000 | 100,000 | 10% 180,000 | 50,000 | 28% 900,000 | 190,000 | 21% 67,500 | 7,500 | 11% Average 16% If you remove the spikes, it looks like an average 12% - 13% of your previous points. I would see this as, if your number is higher than the average then you will most likely see your number of links increase. Now, if that's the case then it looks like I will have 2.6 times more links than before . . . Wahooo! Couldn't be more excited!! The big HOWEVER is though, how will search engines view my site(s) gaining links so fast??? I just hope that search engines do not really see the time it takes to gain links.... and its always been people-talk speculation. In reality I'm not that worried about that, I'm still celebrating. Thank you Shawn!!!!
