Hey guys, I tweaked our home page a week ago by making the title, description and actual text content more keyword relavent. Title: removed our site name and used keyword we are targeting instead Description: changed it around to include more keywords that are also in the actual page body text Page body: injected the keyword we are targeting into more places inside the text content So a week has passed and it seems like we lost about 10 spots, I might be overkilling the keyword on the page and google is not liking it. Should I remove some of the keywords from the body of the page or should I give it more time. The new MSN is sure liking us, we are jumping between page1 and page2. Keyword: Homework Help www.brainmass.com
If it reads naturally, then that's best... Keep the content you have on there for another couple of weeks and see if there any changes at all... If not, then rework it a little. Just don't overdo the KW stuffing...
I don't think you were penalized for stuffing too many kws in your tags. Cause and effect are the hardest things to determine when doing SEO. Give it some more time and get more links to your page, k?
If you truly don't think you crossed any type of possible seo spam stuffing technique then I would wait it out. I think many times people make changes and coincidentally things start happening. Rather than make too many changes, let things simmer for a bit. That way you can learn from the changes you made and actually see if they did anything.
When you were previously securing backlinks, what sort of anchor text were you using? If you were using your name or not the keywords that you are working hard for now, you may want to contact those sites and try to get them changed.
We've been asking for 'Homework Help' as the linking text for about a year now, althogh we are getting new links google hasn't updated our links stats in a very long time. MSN is picking up way more backlinks, google is missing a lot with pr3+
Content optimization seems pretty useless on google, top sites don't even mention any keywords they target in the text content of their page at all. Ahh backlinks
I normally would pretty much agree although since yesterdays update (might be temporary), we are suddenly ranking first for competetive words that we have never target with anchor text. We are suddenly bringing a ton of traffic from all these keywords which are related and throughout our content. It will be interesting to assess this once the dust clears.
There is definitely something up. For my non competitive KW I am dropping like the apple on new years. It is wierd though, it is only on certain datacenters according to MC's tools...
