Hey guys, I feel like I was scammed by websitespot.com and was wondering if anyone else has fallen victim by them. When I signed up for this domain name reseller, they promised a low $6.95/yr plus ICANN fees. No problem, great deal from what I've seen, with decent support. Well, look at my first payment.

    ORDER TOTAL: $7.17

    QTY ITEM PRICE
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    1 .COM Domain Name Registration - 1 Year $7.17
    *removed*.COM
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    Subtotal: $7.17
    Shipping & Handling: $0.00
    Tax: $0.00
    Total: $7.17

No Problem, I like it. Now, here's what I paid on renewal, take a look at the difference in total!!! The next one, I only have proof via my PayPal payment to them

    Payment DetailsTransaction ID: *removed*
    Item Price: $10.19 USD
    Total: $10.19 USD

Are they legally allowed to do this? I think my agreement allowed up to $500, which is ridiculous. Is there anything I can do to get them back for this, or should I just report to PayPal? There was no fine print I remember saying that I would ever be charged extra my second time paying!!

Basically, would you consider this a scam, and what should I do? Thanks.

    -Chris

Its probably the fine print, many registrars offer cheap first year registrations, and then raise the fees after the first year. It happens all the time and has to be found somewhere in the fine print. You could always transfer your domains to the next special offer when they're up for renewal.

This is normal with most domain sellers, you will get a promotional pricing for the first year to gain you as a customer and they charge you high end for the domain renewals. they are just sub-resellers for Godaddy
