So my website has $500 of revenue a month, your happy to buy it for $5,000? Even though I am spending $10,000 a month on PPC to get my $500 revenue (ie its making $4,500 loss a month)
A website's worth is based on how much a person could make off of it. How much a person may be able to make depends on it's page rank, domain name, any backlinks or articles already existing, and content. So, pretty much, there are probably too many factors to calculate. And, like has been previously said, it's worth as much as something
It thinks google.com is only worth a bit over 2 billion dollars. I wouldn't rely on that tool. All it does is look at backlinks, page views, and ranking.
Google.com may only be worth that, Google Inc is a different matter as much of its revenue comes from its other sites plus its advertising networks etc etc etc
The most important aspects are the level of traffic (not Alexa ranking) and the subject matter of the website.
A ton of factors involved from the actual domain name, page rank, visitors per day, to the type of site or market it targets. Very difficult to put a number on a site. Google . com with was at one time offered for less than a million bucks. Today it's value is in the billions. Back then it wasn't that popular and just getting started. So depends on what you got.
It is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I recently wrote an article to discuss how to do research on websites to determine their value.
