Website value - 12000 unique/day

    I found a site that has an average of more than 12000 unique visitators/day(for more than 1 year) and I have the opportunity to buy it. The current webmaster isn't making much money with the website right now so I convinced him to sell it for 2500$.
    The website it's a mp3 download site, most of the traffic is direct traffic because the website is very well known for one type of music in my country. I have a similar website that is currently making around 900$/month with only 3000 visitators/day so I think I will recover my money fast?
    What do you think? Is it a bad idea to buy website gust for the traffic? The website has no real content. Any advices?

    if it has no real content how is it getting so many unique visitors? If you think your site offers more then it sounds like it would be worth the purchase, redirecting the traffic to your site and cashing in. Alterntively if you think there are similar ways to monetize the site as you have with yours you should try that and see what kind of revenue it brings. With the info you stated, it does sound like a bargin. You should obviously verify the traffic, see where it comes from etc before comitting

    If you think you can monetize the new site in the same way as your existing site and the new site has 4x the traffic of your current site that is making $900/month ... well then, it seems like a no-brainer.

    Only possible issues I see:

    1) You better confirm the uniques numbers and I'd also check pageviews and visits and see if they are in line with what you would expect based on your own site.

    2) You should do your best to confirm whatever program you are using to monetize will be allowed on the new site.

    3) If there are any possible legal issues such as copyright infringement .. then you'd have to consider the risk/reward of taking on that potential liability.

    iThank you for your advices. I have placed my own counter on the website and things are looking great(the visitators are real, over 33% are from US). I am hoping I will have all the money next week to buy the website :)
