Website Stats or AdTracker?

When one has a website, is website stats enough, or is it better to have an additional adTracker for better overview over statistics for traffic that comes from certain sources, where one is promoting?

Google Analytics is the best in my opinion... set it up through your adwords account.

    You can also explore heatmaps...

    Those 2 tools are excellent.

I personally prefer Statcounter over Analytics.

I feel analytics is too limited. Only giving you your top 5 referrers/keyword clicks and throwing the rest into "other". Statcounter tells you everything.

I prefer Statcounter because if they do any data mining, it won't affect your Adsense. Besides, why give Google data they can use to affect your ranking?

I like statcounter, but i hate having to pay for larger numbers. At least analytics stores everything for free.

Unless Google are lying to everyone, no stats can affect your actual Google search results.

    Thanks for the replies!

About google, I've just read that you give to them the data, and then your competitors can find your profitable keywords!!!
    So be cautious.

    You read?

I don't know the source anymore.

But what do you think, how google builds the database of their keyword research tool?

    Anyone tried extreme tracking before?
The only problem is that everything is public viewable.

Thanks for all the recomendations! :)

It would be even better, if you can lose a few words about the advantages or benefits what you recommend, or what is important by choosing a good tracking software or service.

I guess, a program on the server is ok, or does anything speak for a service?

Does someone know if Ultimate Ad Tracker or Ad Tracking Pro is good or uses it himself?
