Guys, be skeptical here. It's somebody pushing a new product. Believe what you want, but speed doesn't play a part in rankings. How do I know? Rather how would you or anyone else know if it does? It doesn't. Matt Cutts says so. At some point yes, it might, right now? I would worry about getting some links than wasting time measuring your site speed. If you have lots of time, go ahead and waste it then on speeding up your site.

I agree. The entire article was nothing but a sales pitch.

I'll say it again, stop reading this rubbish (it's a sales pitch) and go make a backlink. That's a much better investment of 5 minutes than reading the linked article. All you need to know is that Google may at some point in the future give better ranking for faster loading pages. That said, maybe Google will also in the future rank pages higher if your domain name starts with the letter C.

a bit of a shame these things are all rumours, no officially statements, people spending hours on things they don't know for sure.

I wish they would. Maybe people would learn to resize that big 2mb image from their digital camera before posting it to their blog at 600x400 pixels. I saw one page the other day that needed to start up java just to see 1 tiny 120x90 ad. Why java for that little add I don't know a little animation or movement I guess. The only thing is if most google servers are in the u.s. and your site is 1/2 way around the world on a slow connection to begin with would google regard that as negative. It would seem like sites nearer to google servers or ip locations with decent connectivity would be favored to some extent. Interesting thought though.

You are clearly never going to make it! Are you serious about slow loding being a good thing :S

Are you still in the era of dial-up?

I still do not think that is a factor. After all, with Wordpress Direct isn't that their fault for having slow servers?
