What is the best free tool to use to take a snapshot of your website or a screenshot? I want to advertise my website in a classifieds site but I don't know how to take a shot of my website to put in the advert. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

    Cheers

Do a screen capture. Then load it up with any image editor and resize to the specified size on the classified site.

You should find all the open source applications you need here: http://mashable.com/2007/09/23/open-source/

1: Hit your print screen button on your keyboard
2: Open up Paint (default windows application)
3: Hit Cntrl + V on your keyboard (paste)
4 (optional but recommended): Crop out unnecessary captured content (start menu, window "x" button at the top, etc)
5: File -> Save as -> JPG and name it
