This is what I get when the name is spelled correct with no space between the business name but I want it to look like the second picture below. What can I do to make WordSmith Records show results with site links like the second picture below. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks If I search WordSmithRecords this is what I get and what I want but want it to show when people type WordSmith Records.
Hi, a couple of things you should do. First you need to create your home page, then category pages, then sub-pages within each category. Do a search for How To Gurus and you will find my site with category pages shown as in your example. Those were because I have category pages and then sub-pages for each category. The 2 most popular category pages are currently being shown for my site (free tutorials and photoshop). The other thing you can do is to use content markup and rich snippets, basically using code markup to tell Google exactly what each section of each page is about. You can find out more in the Google Webmaster Tools help section, here is a link: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/99170?hl=en&ref_topic=4600154 A combination of these two techniques should give you exactly what you want.
Hello, thanks I'll check the link and see what I can do from there. What I do not understand is where the problem is with WordSmithRecords showing up with the site links but ------- WordSmith Records is not. I want people to search WordSmith Records and get the site links like your page has but for some reason it only has them if I search wordsmithrecords. Do you have any further input on why or better yet how to fix this. I will go over your first suggestion and see if I see the problem. Thank you
Now I understand better. Google lists the extra information if they think you are searching for that specific site. If they think your search is more general they will not list the extra info. So my guess is that they consider wordsmith records a general search and consider wordsmithrecords a specific site search. Probably because wordsmith is a generic term. So Google thinks that people searching for wordsmith records are not necessarily searching for your site in particular, so even though your site is at the top of that serp it won't get the extra information display.
Use Structured Data Tool in Webmasters and place your relevant links of the pages you want to show for the search result. It will show the way you want quickly. As George said above Google might be considering the word that is relevant to users and himself. But if you do structured data thing you will see changes as per your needs.
I believe it is up to Google to show the inner pages of your site especially if you are looking for a certain thing. You can also try structured data on google webmaster.
