I help maintain http://yeanhurrd.com . We just recently discovered someone on here stealing our music. I blocked access to the music directly (http://yeanhurrd.com/Music/) but how would I go about not allowing anyone to view each item inside of the folder? As you can see you could still go to to http://yeanhurrd.com/Music/waytolove.mp3 and listen to the song. Is there anyway I can fix this? We have already lost a significant amount of money from someone pretending to be YeanHurrd ans selling our music to J-Kwon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Li6MCWIWgw) EDIT: We are using BlueHost as our hosting service, I'm not sure whether or not that actually matters. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You could password protect the Music directory and only provide a username/password once payment has been made. Once someone has access to the directory of course it would still be possible to download additional music files. Another option might be to place purchased music files into a temporary directory which the buyer is then given access to (thereby limiting the number of files they can download). The temporary directories could be removed after a certain timeframe. Both of the above suggestions are by no means foolproof but they may be an improvement over your current structure.
Well the main problem with password protecting is that people need to be able to come to the website and listen to all the music we have posted, that way they can decide if its the right BPM (beats per minute), style, and everything.
I really agree with you..Or else no would like to signup without being sure about the quality of song. As there are thousands of sites offering free song download without signup..
