I want to reorganize my folder stucture of my site. This is going to involve moving pages from one folder to another. Possible brand new folders. What kind of problem is this going to cause with search engines? Are they going to recognize the same pages in different folders as duplicate content? What is the best way to reorganize without search engine errors or penalties?

    Hello,

Moving files from one folder to another will mean changing the physical URL address. In order to let search engines know that you've restructured your website, simply point the old page to their new location using 301 redirects. This will tell the search engines that the old page was moved (thus not causing duplicate content issues) and google will also pass any link value that the old URL had to the new location.

However, you might see duplicate content and low rankings for the new locations, but that's just while Google figures out what happened.
