Website rating (directory)

    Hello,

I just started a new directory at www.1000directory.com but my question is about ratings of websites.

Can anybody clarify how it possible that one directory has only 200 approved links and 25 backlinks (according to Alexa) and have PR6.
And there are many directories who have 15000-20000 approved links and 600-800 backlinks but have PR0 or PR1.

Is there any logic or system how PR is calculated.

    Thanks for answers and discussion.

PR in the Google toolbar is outdated, in the sense that it contains data of over 6 months ago.
Google recently stated that social media (facebook, twitter, google+) likes/tweets/+1 are one of the many factors that are used to rank websites.

In my opinion you should focus on creating content and designing your site to make it easier for users to share your content.
This in turn is measurable in Google Analytics.
