Hi folks, I'm running a couple of split-tests with Google Website Optimizer and both tests are only showing a portion of the conversions. One test is a newsletter sign-up that takes the visitor to a "thank you" page. And that's a conversion. The other test is for an ecommerce store and is tracking sales. Both times, the number of conversions shown in Website Optimizer is far, far lower than actual conversions. I've run split-tests before and the numbers seemed fairly accurate, so I don't think I've set the tests up wrongly. So, I'm wondering if it's something to do with web optimizer? (or possibly the new version of Internet Explorer not allowing the conversion cookie to work) Has anyone else seen this recently? Cheers, Steve
Steve, This is interesting. I have ran tests where generally conversion numbers matches to actuals or they are pretty close. Is there a possibility wherein your goal page and test page being in different domain and cookie doesnt get passed ? Have you seen Google analytics also report lower conversion number for TY page ? Is your business such that one user might submit leads ( for newsletter) multiple times ? Just thinking aloud ! Thanks,Ravi
Just got another thought ! You can use advance segmentation feature of GA to separate data of your two version of page and configure your TY page as goal in the profile and see if nos different even for two different versions as well ? Ravi
