Hey everyone, when godaddy or another domain selling site says that a domain is taken but you can pay 19$ or whatever to backorder it, what does that ensure? If you pay the fee do you get 1st dibbs on the domain as soon as it expires? And also lets say I buy a domain from godaddy and get it like 1 million page views a day and I had only payed for a year with the domain, do I actually own it forever as long as I renew the contract or can they take it away after a year and sell it to someone else and have wasted all my time?

i have no experience with buying expired domains, but here's an article that might help you with an expiring domain:

also, if you buy a domain it's yours as long you renew it before it expires.

When you backorder a domain from Godaddy that doesn't mean you will get it. Godaddy will just bid on your behalf. If it is popular there will be other people watching it to. Just google to learn more. You do not get first dibbs either.

As long as you renew the domain every time it is yours to keep.

Thats rite this 19$ fee is only for godaddy to initiate a deal with current owner to negotiate his/her domain. It may or may not work.
