    Hi ,
I have workandfamilychoices . com and is not indexed in google from 2 feb 2010. I have wordpress on it.
in google webmaster tools I have a crawl error:
    http:// www. workandfamilychoices . com/ index.htm 404 (Not found) 26 pages Apr 8, 2010

Maybe this error is because this domain have some backlinks with this url and now , the url doesn't exist.
Can I redirect google crawlers to my new website?
Please give me some ideas for my problems to get indexed and I don't want to lose pagerank.
    Regards,
    Floryn

Add lots of post with solid relateable content. Use keywords for your niche in your post's title and body. Search engines love good writing. Invest time and money for original content. A few dedicated months should increase your index count. Hope this helps

Wordpress is PHP not html unless you get a static pagesa plugin. That is probably why the page index.html doesn't exist. Check your sitemap, and if you haven't submitted one, do.

Yes with WP your main page is now /index.php, not really a way i know to change it. You can consider an HTML landing page with a link to your blog or some sort of redirect like you mentioned.

Try to submit the site on stumbleupon and get index in less than 24 hours. This is based on my experience.

I guess you recently bought the dropped domain and stick WP on it ?

    For new WP installations -
Make sure your privacy setting in Wordpress dashboard is set correctly.
That should be the problem :p

Why don't you just fix those 404 pages instead of 301 redirect to a new site? It does not make any sense. Your 404 Not found error is the main caused of this. Google would defined any sites come along with a lot of 404 error as a low quality sites, so the Googlebots would not waste a time to visit again.

I understand, but redirect to ....?
    redirect 301 /index.htm http://www.workandfamilychoices.com/ or
    redirect 301 /index.htm http://www.workandfamilychoices.com/index.php

PS: I try and it doesn't work with this 2 metods... :(

I got the same problem for my site that i am using like ezine. I used webmaster tools, google crawled my site with keywords. In a couple of days my pages were missing. Again i uploaded my pages and after some days my website got corrupted and closed. Then my bluehost server told me to change password and credit card number in order to keep safe. There may be a chance for hackers to enter into it. I got fed up in reinstating my site. After reinstating i think i can go ahead by adding pages once more neat and cleanly by changing password and credit information.
