Firstly i hope this is the correct forum, but i couldnt really find a more suitable section.

I have a pretty decent website getting about 1,000 uniques a day. The subject is the upcoming Nintendo console, the 'Revolution'.

The term revolution is a keyword in the domain name, and a search term i pull the most traffic from.

The problem is however a few days ago Nintendo announced the name of the console isnt in fact going to be the name Revolution and will instead be named 'Wii'..

Im just debating whether to change the domain name to reflect this name, as im sure in time the searches for 'revolution' will die off... but im in risk of losing the branding of the site etc in the short term.

    Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Well, as it's an immensely competitive market, I highly doubt that you'll get in the top 50 for many 'wii' related keywords, so I doubt it'll give you much of an SEO advantage in that respect. I also think 'wii' is the worst name for a gaming console ever, it feels like an empty typo to me with absolutely no spirit or concrete to it. I'd stick to revolution :)

I think you should change or else you will get left behind when the console comes out. people will stop typing nintendo revoultion in the search engines they will type nintnedo wii instead.

I think you can change your name with wii but if you can use a another domain there include wii or use a subdomain and redirect your revolution site to the new site.
I don't knwo what is your theme, but it's another solution.
The question is type your user only revolution or nintendo revolution. If it's not include nintendo then don't worry you will be not to lose more user. Maybe %10 20 but if you take a new subdomain or change your name it's possible you have new user.
But the time to indexing by google maybe it's long. And don't forget your domain name it's advantage or was a advantage.

i've registered another domain including the keyworkd 'Wii', what would be the best way to add this without getting penalised for duplicate content?

Im thinking park the Wii domain (new) as the official domain, and place the old one as a redirect?

    Hi
If you want the old content from revolution domain then must you use 301 redirect. You can use .htaccess. But how, i don't know.
It's possible to redirect all old pages to new domain with 301. Then see google that the old content are removed.
