Some of you may have seen me posting about this in other forums asking for help on parts of it. Basically I'm building a seo-tool that will check various metrics of any given domain. Right now it checks: Pagerank Backlinks in Google, Yahoo, and MSN I plan to add: # of pages indexed in Google, Yahoo, and MSN Alexa Rank Whois Data I'm just wondering what other information might be of use. This tool will have several uses, but mostly to evaluate a website. So if somebody wants to do a quick SEO audit of digitalpoint.com, they just enter that into the text box and it'll pull up various bits of useful data so you don't have to search around. And yes I realize there are tools that do this, but this is for my own learning and I have bigger plans for this down the road. I would greatly appreciate your input. You can see the tool in action here: http://christianlittle.com/dev/PR/ Thanks
I got it to pull the Indexed Pages from the big 3 engines and the Alexa ranking information, screenshot: It also pulls the Whois record, but I haven't figured out a good way to display the data yet since the record has different formatting depending on which registrar the domain is using. What else would be useful to have on this tool? I'm thinking of adding a check for DMOZ, Yahoo! Directory, and Google Directory listings. Might also include some of the other major directories like Business.com Possibly Wikipedia (although that doesn't really help for SEO, but it's good to see anyways). And maybe adding a few of the smaller search engines (Ask, FastClick, DogPile, MetaCrawler, etc).
I really like it a lot. The problem I have with most of these tools is that they quickly become out of date and the owners of them tend to not update them.
I can see Christian did a very good job. It is a very helpful web tool. You guys shall try it again. The tool provides Engine Metric Domain Registrar Domain Registered Domain Last Updated Domain Expires Google.com Backlinks MSN.com Backlinks Yahoo.com Backlinks Google.com Pages Indexed Yahoo.com Pages Indexed MSN.com Pages Indexed Alexa Traffic Rank Alexa Reach Rank Alexa Links In Yahoo.com Directory Listings DMOZ.org Directory Listings DMOZ.org Category Listings Google.com Directory Listings Google.com Pagerank
It's a cool tool and I am playing with it. If you are still looking for suggestions for improvements what I really want is a way to get the pr for all the pages in one web site. There are some tools which do this but limit it to 100 pages which is useless on most high ranking sites. I know that getting the PR on 10,000 pages will be resource intensive on the server. But it could be limited to a certain number of searches per minute. Or even better for you the first 100 are free then if they sign up and pay the user can search unlimited pages. I'm sure other people would pay for such a service. I certainly would and I am generally cheap!
