G'day forum, I am new around here, and have spent the entire day reading my way through this forum. I am about to launch a site in the next week or so, and it is my first website. I have been doing a bit of marketing in the lead up to the launch, but getting closer to the date, I am just wanting to know what I should be focusing on. Over the last couple of weeks i have been building up my back links on sites, classifieds and directories, my site is now indexed on Google. I have also been participating on forums, getting exposure and links through my signature and networking with people from all over the world. I have also been signing up to sites like myspace, squidoo, digg, etc. With a weak to go, what should i be focusing on, and what should i be not focusing on. I thought the list below might help, but no sure what order of preference i should give to each of them. - Continuing to build up my back links - Networking with as many people as i can through forums - Focusing on sites like Myspace, Squidoo, Digg etc - Doing Media releases and writing articles - Working on my blog - Trying to make a video for youtube and google videos - Trying to create exposure somehow through ebay - Mass email distribution - Other unique offline ways of advertising Any advice that people can provide would be appreciated. Getting closer to the date I am worried about focusing on the wrong things. Also, when is the best time to release a press release and video? Is it a day prior to your site being launched, the same time as the launch of your site, or after your site has been launched? Cheers Jake Howard RaceTheAd.com
You should have been building an awarness of who you are. Getting people to understand who you are and why what you have to offer will benefit them. I ask you this, who would you buy from a total stranger or your friend? All that other stuff you did was a waste of time if you didn't build a list that knows you and is interested in what you have to say.
Thanks for the advice John. You are right, you would prefer to buy a product from someone you know then a complete stranger. However at the same time, if a complete stranger is offering a good service and at a great price, then I will go with them. If a product or idea is good enough, then people will buy it irrespective of whether they know the person or not. In saying that, the seller must appear to be repuatable as people don't want to part with there cash if they have doubt that it will not be honoured. I also try to stick away from selling to my friends and family, as i do not want to ruin and relationships and try and preach my service to them. Cheers Jake RaceTheAd.com
Your right but if the offer is good, do you think people will buy it from someone on the web who has made a name for themselves or you someone they do not know? They will see your site and say great offer will think about it, then see the other persons site and say well they say it's good, think I will buy. Then they precede to buy from that person they know. It's survival of the fittest on the web, set yourself apart from nameless, faceless sales pitches and add the power angle of that pitch coming from an actual person.
