Yes, as search engines change the way they value backlinks, or simply decide not to show hoe they value a backlink, they display different results.

Compare Google and Yahoo, you will notice Google showing less. I beleive Google does not believe in displaying how they evaluate backlinks.

Where were those backlinks? it could be that the forums/directories whatever that had those backlinks on them have been penalised / de-indexed / closed down

    My Dear Brothers ans Sisters

I think your most of the backlinks are from socialbookmarking and directories which you should know that after sometime period all links are expired.

Even many classified links are expired and removed by these site. So you have to find the source from where your links are coming from.

One thing you may want to do is make sure that Yahoo! is reporting properly. Yahoo! has a tendency not to show everything all at once, if you just happen to click on lets say page ten, you may notice a jump in the link count. Try that & report back if that makes a difference.

    Hi Natasha,
    I had a little look-
You have abut 6323 total backlinks, as per Yahoo on 16Aug. Out of those only 1600 are domain external.

So you'd have to keep a strict eye on how fast and what backlinks are going. Keep a log to start with. I hope you have verified your site with Yahoo Site Explorer.

    Thx
