See http://www.positioniseverything.net/ for a start. When you run into something specific, bring it to the forum for a look-see, but an open ended question, like you posted, just can't be answered.

    cheers,

You've got to be kidding me... Look, different browsers handle code differently. That's the way it works. IF your code is standards compliant, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

What's the link to your site?

Nothing could be further from the truth. Even standards compliant browsers will choke on standards compliant code from time to time.

If I'm "wrong" so often then why is it the advice and suggestions I give freely to other people always seen as quality resources? Why is it that the information I provide so freely helping others to be successful in life? How is it that my contributions to this community (and others) enable me to be perceived as an authority figure around here who actually gives a crap about other people?

Look Andy, if you're going to personally attack me for reporting your pirated copy of Adobe Photoshop to Yahoo Answers, that's all fine and dandy. But make sure you do it right - that way it'll be a lot easier for the moderators to permanently ban your account rather than just let you rack up infractions.

Or, you could grow up and become a respectable member of the community. Your choice.

If you're referring to the website in your signature, it looks fine on both IE and FF on my computer.

I only take things seriously when I have to, Andy. As for my life-long ambition, well, let's just say that it's still a work in progress - but that I'm working on it and that by being honest I'm far more likely to achieve it than you are based on the conversations we had before I had to report you to Yahoo! Answers for software piracy.

    ozim400 -

I hear you! I too see the discrepancy in the way I.E. displays pages of my sites. I really don't think it is necessarily your code all the time either. I can view a page I've created and on first view in I.E. it is fine, but to refresh the page displays my page in a totally different way. Go figure???

The conversations we had previously was me asking you to fix my code. All the work i do is honest even the software i use is made to LOOK honest so its not like ill get caught for that. So basically we are the same except you are a slave of corporate industries and PAY up to $400 for something i get free..

And apparently im the stupid one ROFL. Also i agree someone who clearly was joking about you is serious yes. you know i nerly died the other day when someone commented on my spelling.. i was like o no they owned me now dan is way better, this is so serious. and of course ended in YARRR because im a pirate.

^ Dan's too poor to pay $400 for something you got for free : ) Open source is the real anti-pirate. Yar?

Dan, you do tend to seem serious prolly even when you're not. I think it's because Stewie's voice is doing that Kelsey Grammer (sp?) thing in our heads when we read your posts. Is it droll? That might be the word. Rigourous English also makes you seem serious.

Me, a corporate slave? Hmm... let's see. Do I work for a corporation? Nope. I'm self-employed. Aside from the operating system (since Ubuntu's so *close* to being an every-day desktop yet refuses to fix their kerning problem), what software have I paid for? Aside from Edit+ (which was only $30), I haven't paid a dime. Office software? OpenOffice.org covers that. File archives? I use 7-Zip instead of WinZip. Creating PDF files? I use PDFcreator. Illustrations? Inkscape. Page layout software? Scribus. Anti-virus on my home PC? AVG covers that too.

Yes, I use free open source software most of the time. Not because I'm a Stallman "kool-aid drinking" acolyte, but because there's a legitimate business reason to do so - I get to use good software that doesn't cost me a dime. But if a program does something that I want to do or has a feature I need that isn't frree, I'll probably buy it if the price is reasonable (which is something I cannot say for many of Adobe's products these days).

Oh, and yes, you WILL get caught eventually. Don't think for a moment that there aren't programs that are out there scouring the Web looking for people who are cocky enough to admit that they're using and distributing copyrighted software - because there are. It's a race against time, and this happens to be a race you cannot win.

Which just demonstrates to me you still have a lot of growing up and maturing to do. Which is fine outside of business - I'm a very laid back and casual person myself, but as the old saying goes, never mix business and pleasure.
