I have been pushing my site to DMOZ for almost one year and so far I still failed to do so, any shortcut? Please let me know if there is any. Thanks

No shortcuts and DMOZ makes little difference any more. Sure if you can get in great, you get maybe a teeny boost in ranking. But it's not worth all the hassle anymore when there are so many other places that you can put your efforts into.

I've had sites listed in DMOZ and ranking well within their rankings for years. I get very little traffic from any DMOZ listings because no one uses DMOZ. The only reason anyone wants to be in it is for SEO Boost. And DMOZ is becoming even more irrelevant.

I just checked Google Analytics for one of my Travel sites... it's #2 in it's category in DMOZ and out of the last 1,000 visitors 3 have come from DMOZ. It seems to be quality traffic, but the data pool is so small it doesn't matter.

    Visits 3

Avg. Time on Site The average duration of a visit to your site.

We have several of our websites listed in DMOZ some were approved within weeks while others took 6 months or longer. It really depends on how active the editor in that category is.

About 6 years ago I was an editor for a little while but eventually I got too busy to spend my time for free managing listings in DMOZ.

My suggestion is submit your website and then forget about it. If it happens... GREAT. If not now worries it's not like the old days.

Sorry mate, there are no shortcuts, unlike with the success stories mentioned above, all my submission haven't been listed yet or probably have already been rejected.

But as mentioned, there are still high PR directories out there or other ways that could help boost your rank.

By that, do you mean you submitted it more than once? If you did, then why did you do that for? You are the reason its probably not listed!

That's not true. DMOZ editors are supposed to ban URLs submitted more than once. But there is a lot of contradictions, if you read what DMOZ editors write about it. And, as there is a lot of things they are supposed to do but they fail to do, how can we be sure about it anyway?

There is a lot of abandoned categories, there is a lot of editors not checking suggested sites for their categories. Now, let alone the bunch of editors accepting money for listing, you can see how difficult it is to be listed.

Submitting your site more than once is wasting your time.

You are twisting what you have read. No one says that editors are supposed to ban people who submit more than once. Do a search and see. We do say that submitting more than once MAY get you banned for spamming the directory and that it can disadvantage a suggested site if an editor reviews, as some do, in date order. So it is not a good idea to do so and it certainly will not increase the chance of being listed at all, the new one simply overwrites the old one. The one thing you are right about is that it is a waste of time.

2 years ago I saw somebody posted in this forum said that they can make your link listed in around $50, but nobody trusted it.

Just submit your site after 6 month if it's not approved, but properly it can't help you. Luck is the most important factor to get a site indexed by DMOZ.

Go and promote your site somewhere else, you have done all you can to promote it at DMOZ by suggesting it. It can take from a few days to a few years to get a review for a possible listing. DMOZ does not offer a listing service, suggesting it again is useless and if you take any of the advice to buy your way in believe that means a lifelong ban on the site and the editor. Don't do that either. There is, in short, nothing more you can do.
