I am just needing some ideas for a website. I have hosting and a generic domain name that are not in use and even though I do not have time to write content I am trying to find a website such as lyrics, press releases, etc that I could put on it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for what would be the best type of website to start where you do not have to write content. I am always good at building social communities etc but looking for something where I do not have to write content or cover any subject news wise. Appreciate any ideas.
That would depend on your domain name. But if you want to make it really great, you shouldn't start by trying to figure out how to fill your site. You should start by trying to figure out what people are looking for. Then give it to them.
We can't give you valuable ideas until we know the domain name. Since it looks like you're busy I would suggest you to publish 10-20-30 original articles (setup a blog or something) and leave it like that. Old domains are great for SEO later.
The domain name is I was thinking of possibly some type of social network etc or really anything as I am good at building communities and have a small staff for my many businesses but really do not have the extra staff or funding for a new project that takes reporting and content writing. i was thinking of an article directory but that really is a pain as I know people who run those and you can't compete with ezine articles at all as far as getting anyone to submit original content. Really open to any ideas as I am brainstorming right now.
How about a wiki site, where users upload their own content? You wouldn't need to do much work at all other than marketing, and if you can get it successful then you could earn some big bucks, and get hundreds of articles submitted by your users everyday... much like Wikipedia, infact. Also, what about a freelance job listing site for content writers? Again, you wouldn't need to do much work, some advertising and moderation would be fine, and if you can get enough users it will be an instant success.
What about converting it to a paid article submission service, the one like informativepost.com? You can also try converting it to a site offering various "content" for social networking sites, like offering free graphics, scripts, generators etc.
There are thousands of ideas.. You can build a video sharing website it`s pretty easy proving content, the hard part is promoting such a website. On the other hand.. earnings won`t be that bright for the few first months.
Still kind of looking through many ideas. The wiki thing doesn't sound bad but I am just wondering if it would end up doing much for me since I would have to end up writing most of the content to get it started. I am also looking at the possibility of doing a WPU Wordpress with multiple blogs in the money making/financial niche since the domain name has the word SUM in it. Any ideas still would be great.
Since this appears to be an older post, I am not sure if this will still apply. (one would think you had already done something with the site) but making it a membership site where others who joined posted the content would solve the content problem for you. There of course would need to be some moderation of such a site, but you could see how folks were adding content, and offer moderator status to those who seemed to fit within your guidelines for site participation.
I would likely suggest the obvious and make it related to math (sum) that said, I wouldn't exactly know where to start. It would actually be quite clever for some sort of math resource. hope that helps, Nigel
I thought math also but the bad thing is I am terrible with math and hate math so of course would not want to do that haha. I am really looking at making it something related to high-end business/financial of some type. Maybe a message board, wiki, or other but still really searching for that idea, I am not exactly looking to make the website something huge per say just need another website owned by my company that is profitable.
On such a domain name, a wiki or articles site can be created but it should be targetted or niche specific in terms of content on it. Target some niche or market and create a wiki or article type site which should contain content related to that market or niche.
Thanks for the ideas. I am going to go with a wiki website in the financial niche with banks etc I think. Still a little stuck between the wiki deal and the article deal. A lot of it now just comes down to a script as far as which is easier and free. If anyone can give their insight on which would be better in the long term and short term it would be a huge help in us getting a website up. I appreciate all the help so far.
Yes duplicate content is a thing you have to watch for on wiki's and more on article directories. Looking into article directories now and trying to figure out what to do with the site but looking at financial wiki or article website.
