Hi, I'm going to start my own site and could you please give some suggestions of where is the best place to register the domain name and host it? Also, if I'd like a forum on my site, where can I get a templete? Thanks! Vic
welll best place to reg domains is godaddy or namecheap i personally prefer namecheap. Also for hosting add to your msn and tell him i sent you he offers great deals atm best ive seen around even tho his site isnt rdy yet.
Let me add my vote for GD as registar. Do it before the 15th and .coms are 6.95. PM me for the discount code if you don't have it.
Hostgator is one of the best hosts on the web, but if you are on tight budget you might want to check out godaddy, you can get hosting for $3.19 per month (if you get a full year of hosting) and domain name for $1.99, on top of that you can use coupon "SAVETEN" to save ten percent on your order.
Thanks every one, I think I will go for Hostgator then. Colbyt, do I have to register by 15th? The price is gonna go higher after that? Coz my site is not ready yet.
dotcoms are normally 9.20 per year (8.95 + .25 fee). GD has a sale on them through Aug 15 for 6.95 +.25. It is only $2 per domain. I just like not wasting money. They always have something on sale. You have to be on the mail list or read about it here to get the special pricing. They might even be a good host for your site if does not have a lot of scripts. With the 10% off deal and prepaying for a year you could get a domain and a years hosting for about $40. The only advantage to buying your domain before you are ready to go is that you would get all the specials delived to your email account. The do tend to send out a bit of mail.
The best place to register domain names is Godaddy and if you want webhosting that offers above and beyond service then check out: Webhosting.PN IMHO they offer the best service on the internet.
I am fairly new but I have been using Doteasy for all of my registration and hosting. I find their $0 web hosting very good for my sites that I have not alot on. There is obvious problems like floating IP and no MySQL etc but I just upgraded when I needed to. They are Canadian based I believe and I am in the UK and I have had no problems whatsoever in the two years I have been using them. If you want a forum you could not use the $0 option. I run a couple of forums and I use phpbb which is free. I know there will be some on this forum that will not like phpbb but as a new person to this it was so easy to set up.
I've heard bad things from GoDaddy. Use a smaller company, that way they'll always have time for your support needs and they maybe cheaper than most bigger companies.
How about the one in my signature dallvic (DuoHub Web Hosting)? *1Gb space *30Gb bandwidth *Unlimited sites hosted $5 per month
Hi, it seems very cool. How about it's service, compared to hostgator? I saw many people recommended hostgator. thanks.
what about I apply for a domain name at yahoo at 1.99 a year or get one at Microsoft OfficeLive basic for free, then I buy the hosting from hostgator? Is this a better way? Coz I have to spend at least 7 dollars for a domain name elsewhere.
