yo yo. not sure if this goes in the server area of here but w/e.

What host do you fellas recommend for a website that gets about 10,000 - 30,000 daily views. And is also able to handle spikes well and upgrade seamlessly. (please mention the plan if you can as well)

I have heard of something called cloud hosts or something, but i'm not sure what that is.

I believe it should have been in the web hosting forum, don't you think?

yes, cloud hosting is scalable. For hosting companies, there is a myriad of them. The market is pretty much saturated, so you can find what you're looking for easily. Most places are good, although established businesses may have lower risks of going out of business. At 10k - 30k daily views I doubt you need cloud hosting. Cloud hosting is one of the costliest hosting you can get. I'd recommend a VPS/Dedicated which should be able to handle the spikes and have plenty of extra resources available, although a shared hosting should be more than enough to handle that amount of daily traffic if the content isn't heavy (videos/games/downloads).

VPS (virtual private server) is a part of server which is set up to act just like a full server, independently of the other virtual spaces on the server. It allows for dedicated diskspace, RAM and resources to be allocated to your share of the server, instead of every users using the same ressources. It also allows you to run the operating system and programs of your choices. It usually needs more technical knowledge to administrate.

As for hosting, like many people I DP, I offer that, but only shared hosting, not VPS/Dedicated.

There's the company I started on with free hosting that offers VPS, x10hosting . It's a relatively small company that's been going for a few years and owner is usually responsive to help requests for the first issues you run into setting up yourself. They cost a bit more bust seeing how cheap hosting is these day, I didn't mind.

There's also well known companies that offers this, like Hostgator for example. They also tend to charge a high price because they're reputed and many people buy from them first.

Many small companies also offer very low prices, but they tend not to last for long, mostly because of these low prices I suppose. But some are very reliable. You could ask around on DP, I'm sure someone would offer you something interesting.
