HI guys I have bought a few domains which a company shall want to purchase. They have a gathering/seminar/conference each year and they change their site every year i.e. www.xxxxxxx2010.com or whatever. I have bought their 2011-13.com sites and their 2010 site is a PR4. What do you think about me approaching them to sell them? My site I am launching soon is within their industry so I am also keen to get freen advertising on the sites I sell to them if possible to get that into the deal.

Does anyone have any ideas about the best way to approach them?
And should I do it now when I could do with the cash and the free adertising if it works out or wait until end 2010 when their 2010 event has finished? And would they have any intellectual property rights to the domains?

    Thanks

Problem with sites YYYY-YYYY is their ephemer projection. In 2011 little people will be interested on the 2010 site and by 2012 it would probably go ignored, same with combo years regardless actual PR, I think.

If I understand right, PR6and7 owns domains with future dates. If it is true and they have new domain every year with actual years date, I would wait, because if there will be another event, they will definitely contact you :) Or try to list it on Sedo, Afternic and similar sites.

It is hard to say if it is their property when you didn't mention domain name. If it is like WebConference2010.com, i would't say so, but if it's some brand with 201X added, there could be some problems.

I generally avoid domains that would have a single sales target like "SoandsoConvention2009.com". Too high risk. Especially when you consider how willing many potential buyers are to get by with a weaker site. Hell, I'm amazed more people don't use xjjcv.info style domains. After all, people link to bit.ly URLs all the time that look like that.
