    Corel Paint Shop Pro...

It has all of the essential web-design features of Photoshop, but it is much easier to navigate around in and use...

You may use Dreamweaver for that matter because it helps for most things.

I say DreamWeaver also, but the older versions are much easier as it is less technical, I feel as though the newer versions might freak out a noob - IMO

I use Dreamweaver. I am not a designer or coder really, but I find DW to be very good.
    And Photoshop for the graphics.

Is corel draw good for designing? When people mention using photoshop and such for designing, this is obviously without coding but if you design a website in a graphics suite do you need to have a knowledge of the coding side to do it properly?

I don't see why anyone would want dreamweaver mx over dreamweaver 8.

dreamweaver 8 has awesome css tools and some other cool stuff.

however I agree that DW CS3 might scare newbies...knowing how complicated Adobe software is...

will have to try it for myself though

Depends on what you mean.. designing or coding?
I use Photoshop for designing and dreamweaver for coding. Dreamweaver helps fasting up the coding bit ALOT.

for design PhotoShop, for coding notepad is just fine (but more friendly is DreamWeaver, just because you can start to write "fon" and then select font-size and hit enter) Hand coding always better.
