I have a small website design company located in a fairly rural area of the country. I have been working on this business for about a year and a half, but have not needed a website (keeping real busy on referrals). We finally decided it was time to get at least something up. I didn't have a lot of time to spend on it, so it still needs some work (which I will work on as time progresses). I would like some feedback as to what you think about the overall direction of the site. Click the link below to visit the site. It is all flash at the moment, but we will be adding more html friendly version eventually. Website Design <- Click to view my site.
Thanks for the review. That is what we are going for. A small site, without a lot of content that really catches the eye and makes an impression. The site should be quick to explore the entire thing, but easy to remember. When finished, there will be lots of little interactive elements throughout the site (like the cow and "office" on the home page). For now, only the home page has these elements. Be sure to click them a few times (up to 6) to see what they do.
The site has great personality, especially for a web design company. The music that starts automatically could be a little annoying, especially if someone is checking it out in an office environment.
Thank you everyone for the reviews. Hopefully I can find the time to detail the site out like I intend.
Ouch. I usually disadvise against sites that "load" up stuff on the beginning. You'll definately chase away the 56K users. Provide a skip intro link (if I missed it).
I usually HATE Flash sites, but your animations and transitions are both incredible and entertaining. If I were ever considering Flash design, you would be my first choice! -Peter
wow, your design looks perfect. i have only one suggest . put and "skip the intro" link to your home page
Unfortunately, there is no way to do a "skip" intro on this site, as there is no intro. It just loads the entire site up at the beginning. We will be going to a smarter preloader as time permits (so that the first page is displayed after it has loaded but before everything has loaded). This will help it seem to load faster. We will also be doing a non-flash alternative to the site, but we want to detail this one out first. For those that haven't tried it, we also added some interaction yesterday to the "about us" page. Click the truck a few times and you'll see what I mean. This is only the second "entire flash" site that we have done. Most of our sites are e-commerce and use only moderate amounts of flash. We are looking to expand our horizons in this area and are using this site as a test bed for some of the things we want to do.
