Hi guys, I've been working on a fansite for Spore - it's not quite ready yet, considering there is some content missing, the forum isn't done and I have a bunch of spelling mistakes to fix. Nevertheless, I was hoping to get some feedback on the look and feel of the website. I think I like it, but given that I'm fickle, every few days I tell myself that I need to change it. Regardless, what do you guys think? A keeper or should I trash it? http://www.sporenormous.com Thanks a lot!
It's very clean, I'm not a big fan of the font for the titles (i.e. "Creature Editor To Be Released")...It just doesn't seem to blend in with everything else, perhaps a bold arial or verdana will do the trick? Looking good apart from that, I like it
Thanks for the feedback guys. As for the title, I have had some difficulty figuring out how to present my front page. It still needs some work. I think if I can modify my front page, the font will eventually work because it looks pretty decent on the other pages. But you are right, for now the front page title is off by a bit.
Very clean, and love the header mate. Can't work out what the white patch behind the planet is there for though?
Thanks! I added the white semi circle behind the planet because I thought the graphic looked far too uniform without it.
Very Nice mate im liking the clean orientated site , Looks like very fast loading source code aswell Thumbs Up.
Hi guys, I added a ad banner (adsense), I was wondering if it looked out of place where it is? It changes the look of the site a bit and I'm even thinking of just having ads in the forum and leave the content ad-free until the site becomes popular. What do you think?
Okay, I had some problems with my site, I just could not customize it well enough. Some of this was because of my own patch work knowledge of CSS positioning and also because Joomla is fairly complex to work with. So I switched to Wordpress, which happens to be so much easier to customize, though I had to forsake some of Joomla's content/category features (doesn't really matter much). As you may have noticed from my first post, I had some doubts about the template. I thought it was pretty nice but deep down I knew it lacked something - the current version is far better and for once I'm really please with it. It's not done yet, I still have to work in the suckerfish menus, but you can get a pretty good idea of how it's going to be. It also gives me a bit more flexibility because the content width allows me to use landscape banners instead of the the 460 ads. If you want to take a look at it again, you can check it out here: http://www.sporenormous.com/ But I feel pretty confident now that it will be up to snuff once it's done. Thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it and it helped me a lot.
The content part is too boring, as said by SEOpaw. The rest of the parts are great. Fresh and modern.
Okay, I'm adding more content to it and after your feedback, you are right: the content area is pretty boring. I don't really know what to do layout wise, as I don't want it to be to busy. So I'm trying to add more (well placed) images to give the content area a bit more oomph. The only example I have right now is this page: http://www.sporenormous.com/encyclopedia-galactica/
