Is it wrong to put your website design company name in the footer of sites you have made for clients? and have it link back to your company website? This is something I always do, and just started thinking about it. Wondering your take on this? Is it bad practice? And or could it even lead to problems? Thanks for the feedback.Jason
Here for small businesses, I have seen the web design company leave their footer under the page. But I am not sure bigger ones will like it. You can discuss with them on that part. Branding removal fee is nothing new to web design.
Hi Meetdilip. So essentially it's okay to leave it there until they request it to be removed. And other than them maybe not wanting it there, It will not do any harm linking back to my site? Thank you for your post. Jason
It looks like Google is ok with that: http://www.seroundtable.com/footer-links-google-15806.html But you need to avoid creating what's called "a big link scheme" by simply adding a nofollow tag to your links.
Well it's good for your business, will bring people back to your site. If i was a client though i would hate it, to me i just see it as an advertisement i don't want on my site.
I'm often surprised when people do this, not because it's bad practice, but because so many websites that have these backlinks to the designer are such complete buggy train wrecks of ineptitude I'd be embarrassed to admit participating in their construction.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to help answer my question. Qwikad I just looked into the big link scheme and I believe I'm ok. Thanks for sharing that info.
