Hey all, I started a website about slot machines a few years ago but for some reason never got around to working on it so it's been sitting there for years. I've been thinking about working on it again. I kind of like the layout (excluding the logo / top) except that the colours seem too dark. I'm not sure if I should keep it as is (colourwise, grey/black/white) or if I should use brighter colours. I'm terrible at finding good colour combinations. Any input would be much appreciated. http://www.onlineslotshq.com
color is important in sites, since most ppl like attractive and inviting websites, a person goes too 2 sites both with the same content: one is just black/gray, the other is more colorful, statically speaking is more likely they would choose the colorful one. Now as far as colors, i think ur site does need more colors, i personally never choose dark gray, and light gray, they just don't look good together, what i would do is make the column in the center white, leave the text black or change it to a dark gray. The left column where the menu is, change that gradient (http://www.onlineslotshq.com/images/img_4.png) to a more light color. That should help a lot in the graphics part of that website.
Colors seemed fine to me. You could check for color blind issues here: http://colorfilter.wickline.org/
You can go to colorblender.com, and use their color combination program or pick one the already made color combo
http://vischeck.com/vischeck/vischeckURL.php I looked at your site under this site's simulation. Things were surprisingly readable even so, except where black letter sit on dark grey (I'd make all the text white and a fontsize bigger). I actually like the dark and light greys with the black thin borders on everything. It makes the colours you do have stand out. Were I you, I'd keep the greys, but then get a nice colourful header, with maybe a leaning towards reds and greens and golds (those seem to be gambling colours). A header standing out, leave the rest as is.
Hi, you can always add more contrast, deep colors etc there's a lot of color tools (free i mean!) these days, so grab one or two and develop a new/powerfull color scheme.
The gray is fine, but would look better if you added other colors to compliment it. I use http://www.colourlovers.com/ for different color combinations. Good luck!
