For the last few years I have been using the 'Sitebuilder' that came with my hosting for my website. The template is all pre-made, all you have to do is add text/pictures into the gaps. I feel now I want more from my website but the sitebuilder does not give many options. So, my question is, can someone point me, with little HTML knowledge into the right direction of so easy to use but good website builder software. Thanks
For what kind of website? If a blog I would use WordPress. Some software is better for certain types.
I learnt website design using Expression - it gives you a WYSIWYG editor and full access to the html as well. It also gives you 12 or so templates which you can change COMPLETELY - the 2 sites in my signature have both been built with Expression. Because you can change the html, you can add scripts for rotating pics or submenus, make a css photo gallery, even change the sidebar into a left-hand column (which I've just done today). Some people insist on writing code from scratch but i find Expression saves me time by providing the basic code for the master file , css pages etc. I've also heard Dreamweaver does something similar.
I used Dreamweaver CS4 to build my site and was pleased with it. I also pickup up a book called Dreamweaver CS4 The Missing Manual that was very helpful in learning the software.
