Website availability check possible?

Discussion in 'Site & Server Administration' started by webwebby, May 27, 2011.

    Hi

Is there any way through which I can see that my website is 99.99% available on Internet? I am facing sudden decrement in my website traffic & few people told my website doesn’t load soon or remains unavailable. Is there any software/script or any other way with which I be sure that my website is available all the time without any interruption?

    Regards

    multiple solutions possible
if you are on a permanent www connection
you could run a server control or at least a ping
    ever minute or so

or you can use an outside service - free or paid
to do same for you and notify you when server unavailable

    google for

    website uptime control
some services may notify by email, then make sure your mail address is NOT @ your own site
others offer (paid) SMS notification to your mobile

if you have availability / uptime problems, may be you have DDoS running every now and then
    or
you have a process that is using up your resources
    or
you have a malicious bot looping on your site

Use Pingdom or just-ping.com, the latter is not for continuous monitoring but good for checking connectivity from many locations around the world.
