Website and Blogging Confusion

    Hi all,
    I am very new to creating anything on the web and I have found this forum to be a good way to start and get help. My goal is to create a personal website and a blog. I have a hierarchical idea for my website, and I would like one subsection to link to my blog. I would like the blog to be kind of a side project, which can be updated more frequently as I generate the content.
    I already have the domain and I want to use the domain for the website. I am at a loss how I should go about the blog. I was not sure at all if I could use one domain for both purposes.
    I would appreciate if you could give me some pointers. Thanks for reading!
