Just wanting to get some feedback please from experienced users out there. My site is www.photosales.co.nz - I have recently added AdSense on there, and today have also done a few changes with site width, adding additional sections etc, and also placing the AdSence to the right of the photos that are displayed. Should this all be ok?
you have a lot of work that needs to be done. I would first look into placing either a vertical AdLink unit above your menu on the left hand side or a horizontal AdLink unit below your search bar. (I would personally go vertical) Homepage: No ads above the fold = no revenue. But a horizontal unit above or below your welcome message. Gallery page: place the adsense ads on the left side of the image. Ultimate tip: If you have the time, write descriptions for all your photos. Then apply for Kontera or IntelliText. They will turn your text into hyperlinks which can earn you money. Or write a good size paragraph of text and put it above your images. Then to the left of the paragraph place a square adsense block. Galleries are very hard to make money off of... so your going to have a lot of work to do in determining the best way to make money.
Just looked over you site Very clean and well layed out. So many sites have little content and all ads. You might try some light color backgrounds to make the ad section stand out. From everyday-wisdom.com
Your site has a good content.but you should blend your ads with the content. I don't recommend to place ads at the bottom. Nobody see the ads! Good Luck
Thanks for your input guys - really handy. I have jsut changed all the article pages round, so that the Google Ads are shown on each page on the right hand side of the articles. Im not to sure about what color to have the advert backgrounds, so have left it as white in the meantime. I hear what everyone is saying about having ads at the bottom, so will try to get away from them being there. tonyhill: Where my searchbox is on each page, would it hurt to have a small Google Adsense box NEXT to that one on the right hand side? Thanks again people for your help.
I don't agree about changing the link colors - I think you have those fine and they reflect the way visitors are conditioned to respond to clickable links. There's good advice about placing ads above the fold - you really have to search to find them where they are at the moment. How about a 728 or 468 x 60 above your search box?
At the moment I am trying to work out how I can put some Google Ads next to the search box, just trying to use the available space up... As that search box is pulled from a seperate php file, there is code all over the show. I will try to have a go tonight to see if I can get it working.
Ok, I think I got the code correct - at least it works in IE fine. If someone out there with FireFox could check to make that the search bar ad placement looks ok, that would be really cool. Thanks everyone for all your help with this.
