Anybody in here tried to have their site shut down before

My sites have been shut down completely for about 48-72 hours now due to an idiotic  "upgrade"-session done by the server-staff, and I'm just wondering...

How much does it hurt your position in Google - given the asumtion that Googlebot swings by and see the "all-closed" sign at least once

yes if googlebot came knocking and found no one at home, then came back the next day and still found no-one at home you may have a problem. Depends if the bot visits you every day.

However as long as you are back now, in theory it should only be a few days before you get back to where you were.

I am afraid you just need to sit and wait then if the worst happens sit and wait a bit more, then if things are bleak hit the forums for further instruction.

But I would certainly look for another server host.!

I know... But they've been doing it for free, and been a great bunch of guys so far.

Nothing's resolved yet though - still waiting on death's row (in a manner of speaking) and biting my nails...:( I'll be back for later instructions when things go from bad to worse
