I recently transferred a blog from Blogger to Wordpress site that I host. In webmaster tools I'm showing a ton of (404) Not Found errors for Tag pages, comments, categories, all sorts of junk. I want to clean these up but don't know where to being. Luckily, my blog posts seem to have transferred ok. Here are a sampleof what it's showing under "Not Found" errors.. Can i use robots text to disallow /category or /feed...or would that not be a good idea? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
If possible, you could 301 redirect all of the links to the new destinations, but that would be a lot of work looking at that screenshot. As you said, if the links aren't that important, you could just disallow those directories to stop the errors.
I've gone through and fixed all of the posts that didn't transfer over properly, but I have like 400 URL not found errors showing for tags, comments and a bunch of crap. My blog is not showing in Google search engine results now, and I'm concerned it's because all these errors have popped up. How long do those errors show on there, even after I've fixed a lot of them?
