Webmaster tool is not accurate... what is wrong?

    I am condused at the results I am seeing in webmaster tools.

    Lets take this for example:

    When i look at one of my search terms "HID Bulbs" webmaster tools shows me at #4, BUT when I go to google and search for this terms I am not even in the top 100!

    What is up with this?

    I am searching by all google domains for the last 7 days AND I also tried just Google United States and the same thing happens.

    maybe google geolocation ??

    FYI, trying google.com from asia IP would be different with google.com from US IP.

    Because Change is Google and Google is change. When it recorded in webmaster and when you verified, there is an amount of change.

    Did you investigated too on your traffic. Like in your example, did you receive organic traffic where that keyword was used to find your site?

    Maybe you can try to open Google.com in some proxy site and see your site ranking with such keyword.

    The results in webmaster tools is not updated so you can't see the real ranking of your site on google search.

    I have noticed that the real position of my site in the google index is updated in webmaster tools after a couple of days.

    I suspect that when Google re-calculate the SERP position of a page, it temporarily removes from the SERP.
