Were you creating these backlinks from an automated tool or service? I have a myriad of sites in this predicament and most of them are doing just fine. Needless to say your site may be simply in the "Google Dance". If you have only loss rankings for about 2-3 weeks I'd hold out on doing anything drastic. The best way I have found to rebound if this does remain with lower rankings is to create link diversity. Add web 2.0s, social bookmarks, tweets, doc share links, wikis, etc.

You'll rebound. Just hold some faith.

290 links form 1 site doesn't necessarily mean that you will lose ranking. getting too much links from a single site or getting site wide links doesn't help as much as it used to in the past. you will get certain amount of credits for the links and then no more link juice after that no matter how many more links you get from that site. after a certain point, google starts discounting the links from the same site but your site will not be penalized for that. if you want to remove those links, then you will need to remove them from the site you posted them on.

it's probably a sitewide link, alot of sites stick them in the footer, it's nothing to worry about.
