Perhaps, but at least I'm not behaving like a child like some of the posters on this thread, and you haven't seen some of the language used in the feedback/rating system. My 4-year old behaves more maturely than that.

How can you be so dumb, you come in here and steal a template from a respected member, then promote your crap here and tell him to ____ off when he asks you why you stole his work....

I know, I'm just saying that it is seems impossible to have a mature conversation with you guys. At least Syncmaster made his point of view in a sensible, albeit annoyed manner. Personally I don't thing he as much of a leg to stand on since he's offering a DMOZ-like template which is a virtual mirror copy of the real DMOZ template, which is of course against their terms, copyright, trademark rights etc. (unless he has permission from AOL to do so of course).

I would accept your argument if I was blatantly using the template and passing it as my own. I have stripped it down to bare html/smarty tags and added a couple of minor changes to the layout - the result is a bunch of tables and some CSS to make up a standard every day layout for a site and IMHO looks nothing like the original thingm but is coded like millions of other boring standard sites worldwide. This is what happens on the Internet all the time. People take inspiration from other people's work and there's precious little you can do about it. Get used to it.

Just cut your losses: Give Syncmaster credit for the template and move on. Anything else is pointless rationalization of theft of copyright.

 

You can only say so when I save the domz directory, make modifications to it and claim that this is my design. The dmoz-style TEMPLATE is a variation of the original SKYBLUE template which was designed from scratch. You stole my template and you should be sorry for that
