Hi I've mostly finished http://mogg.us , a webmaster news voting site, similar to DIGG. Basicly you can register, submit your story ( webmaster related ) and vote on other stories. The point is to get as much valuable information about internet marketing and development and put it in one place. I've grown tired about cardboard self proclamed gurus so I'm giving the power and thrust back to the masses. So what do you think?
The template is okay.. but not the logo.. I see you've used a generator to create that one I would get a customized web 2.0 designed for your site with a nice unique logo icon. Also: the logo looks like it has been resized by coding? It looks disorted.
Spend some time getting the design crisp, even pay for a decent logo and brand design and you may have a chance. The problem is, why would people go to your site when they can go to digg or reddit etc? You have to ask yourself "What is my USP" (USP being unique selling point) and then promote the hell out of that on other forums. Tell people why they would want to use your site. Do that, and you may just have a chance, as long as the content is good TCG
My biggest criticism is that you have created a Pligg site, that hosts links that anyone would rather try to list on Digg. I would scrap the "webmasters only" concept and setup a site for a niche that is not soooooo heavily covered by Digg, like fishing or finance. I would also either change the text you have for "What is Mogg?" or remove the box on the right hand side of the home page. It links to the default Pligg text and license info. As far as the look and feel go I think it looks fine. Remember what the great Shoemoney has always said, focus on building great site functionality first and then worry about design.
