I'd lke to get a list going of webmaster forums with ACTIVE buy/sell subforums. There are many sites that have them, but there is rarely a request to either buy or sell. I'll start with somewhat busy ones that I know of, and others can add on: -digitalpoint.com (obviously) -webmaster-talk.com -dnforum.com -namepros.com -domainstate.com (somewhat, it's really not THAT busy)
Good idea dpakman91 sitepoint.com/forums/ have an active one, but they charge you $10 to list. I wouldn't recommend this site for inexperienced buyers as the moderators tend to bend over backwards for the sellers. They don't like forum posters pointing out anything negative about the sites being sold.
Ah, yes i should have mentioned sitepoint in my list. I am aware of it, but don't use it for that same reason you mentioned.
Alright i guess i'll add another, although it's not very busy at all, devdreams.com does have a buy/sell advertising forum.
My site does IDN Forums it has a normal domain section but the site concentrates on IDN Domain sales.
For the SitePoint Forums, we try our best to be fair to both buyers & sellers... Obviously that means we can't let people come into threads and post unsubstatiated claims that attack the sellers reputation or "insulting" offers when they are obviously not interested in buying the website/blog/whatever. That being said, anyone can post any legitimate question publicly and it will not get deleted (if it does, let me know and I can step in). If the seller doesn't provide a good answer, that in itself, should be enough of a warning sign that the seller might not be legit... we also provide lots of info and guidelines on how to conduct a "safe" transaction and not get ripped off. By the way, not to be self-promotional, but out of the couple of listings that appear on both SitePoint and other marketplaces, virtually all of the highest offers ended up coming through SP. You can do a number of searches yourself to verify this fact. Both The Blog Herald and OnlineGames.net, among many other sites, ended up selling for tens of thousands of dollars through SitePoint... Cheers, Matt. SitePoint Co-Founder.
Of course, since many inexperienced buyers overpay for sites. Sitepoint bends over backwards to protect its paid advertisers (sellers) while deleting posts and threatening to ban anyone that posts anything remotely negative.
Oh shut up. Every post you make defends or refers to SitePoint. We didn't ask for an explanation or defense of SitePoint within this thread, but a list of webmaster forums where you can sell your sites. I don't think the thread starter necessarily even wanted to pay PER THREAD to sell a site. Also, your moderators...suck ass. I have personally experienced bad moderator behavior over at SitePoint. Some posts go unnoticed and uncared for if its flaming in the site sales threads. Pretty pathetic considering that the people are PAYING to list their sites and moderators can't even do a good job, let alone follow up reports. Hell I got BANNED there for reporting a thread that had many flames in it...I felt sorry for the guy who had to pay to post that thread only to see it get completely trashed. I got banned because in my report I said that I was pissed off to see this...guess they are not old enough to handle adult language. Also, all your posts here have your site at the bottom? Why? You are trying to have a signature? Sorry buddy, but here you have to EARN your signature by posting and following the rules here. Now anyways, back on topic. I would like to suggest the following websites for you to sell your site at: www.TalkFreeLance.com , www.WebHostingTalk.com , www.yaXay.com , and www.Webmaster-Forums.net All of those are very active and can possible get your sites SOLD! None of those require pay also. Good luck!
