Webmail and IP config issues

    Hi All,

Im having some major issues with getting my webmail to work with my server.

I have registered the domain names with my registrar in the UK.

The domains are hosted on a VPS suite with a server in the USA.

I have pointed the DNS records and IP address at the registrar to the VPS and the domain loads absolutely fine.

Im using Plesk and have attempted to set up email accounts specifically for the domains in question so the clients can email from their website name and receive mail....

such as sending and receiving from:-

Now I can get the emails to send no problem, but nobody can receive emails.

The server are blaming the registrar and the registrar are no help at all!

The VPS server people are telling me I need to point the nameservers to the VPS account name

    NS1.registeredaccountnameforexample.com
    NS2.registeredaccountnameforexample.com

and the respective IP addresses....however, this results in an NS error.

It only accepts this if you put in the name of the actual domain on that VPS account...

So under the global VPS account, I have a clients domain called 'exampledomain.co.uk' for example.

If I add NS1.exampledomain.co.uk as the nameservers, the registrar accepts this but the emails can be received.

    Also can't access
    exampledomain.co.uk/webmail

which is suppose to work once this has been created with Plesk.

Any ideas out there would be useful. Been scratching my head over this with my web designer for about two weeks now!

    Andy

Firstly, you need to explain things a little clearer and you need to reduce the amount of complexity of your hosting server system.

You have two options to point the domain to your VPS:

[1] If you have properly set the nameservers in your VPS then just change the nameservers at registrar end. After changing the nameservers they take 24-48 hours to propagate.

[2] Use the nameservers of your registrar and just point WWW and MX records from your registrar control panel to your VPS.
