I am trying to get something like Weblogs Inc. (Engadget, DownloadSquad, Joystiq) going but with sports. How tough do you think it would be to find people who are willing to volunteer and help out for free before I start earning money to pay them? Also how hard do you think a project like this is? WOuld it take up a lot of time?
A team of 20-25 highly skilled webmasters, tons of liquid cash supported with few immovable assets, in case you get debt ridden, 28 hrs of work in a 24 hrs day, very strong heart and ..... If you have this, then you can get going immediately!
In order to get folks to work for you for free, you have to establish trust from them first. One of the best ways to do this is to prove yourself to them through offering a product or service. If you can get a basic site up, and get users to it (and get them excited!), you will begin to build trust. Then, you can move forward with your plans for volunteer workers. Even still, you should consider giving them stock grants or something that makes the effort worth their while, in case of success.
