    Blog is a contraction from the word Weblog, so pipes in correct in identifying blogs as the proper sites to appear in that category.

    Yes, Web log = Weblog = blog. Blogs are now commonly created to make money or provide additional content to a Website. There's still many excellent academic blogs which are updated to provide niche information to a limited readership and I feel are the true Web logs. They are typically hosted on blogger or Wordpress, have no ads, high PR and low Alexa. Here's a good example from my Geology category.
