I'm looking for good webhost that would provide reliable shared webhosting. So far I've tried 3 and I don't like either: Godaddy.com: horrible-horrible-horrible control panel, takes minutes to set up new domain, up to an hour to set up new database. Sometimes website would become unavailable. On the bright side - they never complained about my websites using up too much resources. Hostgator.com: Up side: very good control panel, everything is set up in an instant. Down side: they like to maintain their servers often and this brings down all my websites. They don't let you know in advance when they will do it. What is even worse - as soon as your website starts to get decent traffic. They claim that you are using too much resources and shut it down. What's very bad is that they first shut it down and then they let you know 1and1: Upside: none. Downside: everything. They just plain suck at everything they do. Too long story to tell here. I'm looking for a webhost that would provide reliable shared hosting (I don't want to go into all the hassle of managing my own dedicated server), perferably it should use cPanel as I've come to like it a lot. It shouldn't bullshit about "unlimited" plans but rather state the limitations up front and allow me to buy more traffic at reasonable price as I need it. Does such company exist or am I asking for too much?
All those hosts are oversellers. Hostgator's control panel is basically just cPanel which mosts shared hosts have anyway. Honestly, you must think before choosing a host. -Stay away from those 'top ten' sites -Stay away from 'unlimited' or 1TB for $5 type hosts -Try out their support first. Send them an email and see how long it takes for a reply. -Search for reveiws. Google: 'companyname sucks' or 'companyname scam' or 'companyname reveiw', etc. -Whois search their domain. Check when it was registered and for how long. Also, try webhostingtalk.com and you should be able to find a decent host. Good luck!
I think that you can find such results for any host. there'll always be people pissed off about something. I was hoping that someone can recommend a good webhost from their own experience.
Yes ofcourse, but its one things to find 1-2 negative reviews on a company but its another thing to find a whole thread on a forum with dissatisfied customers. From my personal experience i would recommend FutureHosting.com for VPS but from what i can tell you want shared hosting. It depends on what exactly you need. Can you give more detail on how much space, bandwidth and any other requirements you need? Without knowing these it can be hard since people can recommend any host that is fine for them but not everyone has the same needs. For example, someone who just has a personal site which only family members visit would probably think Hostgator is awesome, but someone with a more resource intensive site would disagree
I have been using Hostmonster webhosting for 3 years and i am satisfied with them. I hear from others mentioned that BlueHost and IX Webhosting are also good. You can a look at their basic features here in my simple webhosting comparison table. For more details, you will need to look for some reviews before making a decision.
That's the thing - according to Hostgator - wordpress blog with 6-10K daily hits is "high CPU". Yes, I know about WP_SuperCache, no, I can't use it because pages are dynamic (though not computationally heavy - 1-3 DB queries and couple of string manipulations, nothing compared to WP itself) This is the kind of website I'm looking to host. I would be nice to hear opinions from people who have been with the same webhost for 1+ year and have comparable websites. I'm a bit wary of VPS - I have had it in the past and my experience was that you would often get "bad neighbors" on the physical node that would eat up all the resources.
Yes,such company exist. In fact i'm using it right now such as custom-hosting.co.uk If you not satisfied, they do provide 14 day money back guaranteed.
