You know I took a bet [for a bottle of Champagne] that I could move higher than

barbecue-online.co.uk for Weber BBQs within 2 months [who were then at position 4+5]

Alex said I should have a look at a post on that other forum, which I did, and I took the opportunity to alter my signature whilst I was there

    Well look whats happened!!!!

    6 7 8 9 are the forums and they are now 11 +12 ---ooops!

and we are still moving up!!

    Foxy,

Thats a bit like "tipping your hand" in cards, isn't it? IF barbecue-online.co.uk is monitoring the serps, they may wonder where all these forum posts are coming into play and decide to check it out...

BUSTED! barbecue-online.co.uk now knows that there is a race on AND will be able to follow your stratagies.

    Just a thought...

    Caryl

I know - its a little embarrassing to say the least!! But I went back to alter the post and I can't because its over the allowed period!!!

To add insult to injury for them there page lost a PR from 6 to 5 as well.

I think I'll just slink off and hide somewhere until the storm passes over!!

Is weber bbqs really that competitive? I haven't seen any search engine referrals to this forum for it (I didn't look too close though).

    errrrr......No

    4560 pages!!!

Hence the reason why I know I'm going to get that bottle of champagne without doing an awful lot!!

But its fun if not a little embarrassing if they read this lot!

Just to echo Shawn's comments, I'm in the top-10 for "bbq grill" and "bbq grills" ... and I only see handful of referrals/day ... and you would think with Spring here, it would be grilling season! ;-)

Just providing another data point for 'ya FoxyWeb ...

    rmember this one Caryl?

It is now even more embarrassing.....

Shawn and this post stays solidly at No 1 +2 and has now decided to go into the Weber BBQs business!!!

The competition company has fallen off the face of the earth to 150!!! as has my original page

A page I threw together is at 12 with a little text and one OBL!!!

    err.....

you actually got bbqonline #1 indirectly. Great example of the inverse of SEO.

    Hehehe...

BTW is this, 51n24 0w18, the exact position of your bbq?

If so watch out for Alek and the Green Hulk and his pure oxygen. :)

I don't quite get the lat/long reference - does someone have a BBQ in London?

BTW, for those interested, my bbq grill page has been bouncing around the #1 spot in Google for both "bbq grill" and "bbq grills" (fortunately for me, Shawn hasn't set his sites on this term since otherwise I'd be toast) ... total inbound search engine referalls (all SE's) is in the single digits/day ... not exactly a high value/traffic keyphrase! ;-)
