Webdesign and Paypal Chargeback

Hello everyone, I need some thoughts on the following topic. I do web design for customers using Photoshop and then once the design is complete I am paid though PayPal. The thing is about a week ago I completed some work for a client, he then paid me through PayPal. About a hour later I look in my PayPal account and there is a unauthorized charge back for the $60 he sent. I submitted all the proof I could to prove that I did the work, they still ruled in his favor and awarded him the $60 back.

Today I wake up and check my paypal to find another unauthorized charge back. Another $50 transaction for a webdesign I did during the week. This is really pissing me off as the clients are satisfied with the work and ask me to send over the PSD (photoshop file), then later do a charge back so they get the design for free.

I already know that I am beat for the $50, as the same thing happened with the $60. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening or any alternative services that are better than paypal for this type of work I am doing? Once I send the PSD there is not much I can do to get my product back. Please give me some advice, thanks guys.

Once you get the money, put it in your bank account. They can't take it from there. That's all I can think of... and like mdvaldosta said, I don't think they can do that. Though I've heard a lot of bad things about paypal lately.

The money is in my bank account, I learned from the first time. Although my account is negative $50 at the moment because of this. What they do is file a unauthorized claim, pretty much saying they never made the transaction and PayPal will favor with there side 99% of the time. Once I find out which design it was, I will be posting it online for all to download for free.

Does anyone know any better alternative services for sending and receiving money online for such services I provide.

Well all I can say is make a new account. Also, post on www.paypalsucks.com. Tons of people get ripped off by paypal there.

I just got off the phone with PayPal and got into a heated argument with a Rep. After telling her my story she pretty much told me yeah you are going to lose that $50. So then I said to her, so if I wanted I can go into my account and file a unauthorized chareback on all the money I have sent and get my money back? She said yes, lol... wow great service paypal...

A lot of sellers have stopped using paypal due to this type of activity.

I am considering not using paypal anymore also, I have never had a problem yet but some of my jobs are big and I get paid all trough paypal and it would suck to get ripped off for 50-100 hours of work.

I haven’t had any trouble yet but I keep hearing more and more stories.

Mate, i always place these lines of...

    Terms:

    - You agree that you will pay using Paypal Funds. No credit card.
    - No Support is included with your purchase.
    - You are purchasing a non-tangible, irrevocable product therefore no refunds.
    - Doubts? Ask all questions prior to purchase.

If buyer agrees with terms, cool. If he doesn't, no problem.

I believe this is enough for Paypal to put the money back into your account, i hope...

    Any ideas on this method?

You can use moneybookers. but the problem is that not everyone accepts to be paid by it. I really think ppl should use it more.

This kind of crap happens all the time, I got chargebacked $120 before, and more recently $300. IMO paypal should give the seller benefit of the doubt, not the buyer.

A nice little trick you can do :). I actually learned this from a member here. Before you send him the layout tell him to send you the money. After he sends it to you tell him to do a charge back on that payment and right after he does that tell him to cancel the charge back. After that he cannot do any more charge backs and then you can send him the layout.

    - prilep :D

I'm scared to use Paypal for designs for that reason.
I've never been in the situation but I'd like to do everything to protect my earnings.
Would it help if virtual contracts were signed or is that something Paypal doesn't look into?
