I want to start a webcomic for my noddegamra blog site. I have the drawing ability and ideas, I just need to know how to get from pencil+paper to great looking digital art. Does anyone know or recommend software to create graphics for a webcomic? I understand you need to scan in drawings, have them as a layer and work like that? Not 100% sure.. I can also draw using a mouse, but i think the other way would get better results. I like a pen style art, i dont like the crappy brush in photoshop. It's blurry and you can't fill colour properly due to the anti-aliasing.. it leaves white borders.. so.. erm.. any tips please?
Illustrator's Live Trace functionality in CS2 and above. [*]Creating Vector Content: Using Live Trace Hope that helps.
Photoshop, not Illustrator will get you the best results, especially if you want to maintain that hand drawn/ inked look and have more control over the results. Follow This Link to see how it's done. That is just one example, there are hundreds online, some more advanced than others. I know that gimp is an opensource (free) version of photoshop, but I can't tell you if you will be able to do the exact same things, but it might be worth your while to check it out. You can also download a free trial of photoshop to see what's up. Happy drawing
