hi all I've been purely just adding content to my travel site (www.abillionlittlestars.com) regularly (with the keywords - I got someone to check out the relevant keywords for me and have been using them in my articles) because I know this is the way to get more traffic but I have not seen a drastic increase in my web traffic, and recently have even noticed that my traffic has been slightly dropping. I've previously hired people to do on-page SEO for me already, plus some backlinks. Why is this so? Can anyone advise me please? Thanks in advance!
Use social media to spread the word about your site. It's the best free way to get traffic. Especially Google Plus, Linkedin, And Twitter and FB. Get on a site like youlikehits.com and set up tweets so that other people will tweet about your site. This is a great way to get free traffic.
Just adding the content won't bring you much traffic unless you promote that regularly. Social media sites are best for getting quick traffic. Over the time increase your website visibility by building backlinks from relevant sources. This way your organic traffic will start increasing.
As for figuring out why traffic dropped, it's best to look at your Analytics to see where the traffic is dropping from and it won't hurt to analyze your goals as well. Looking at your site its hard to see a unifying theme to the site other than just general travel related articles. Are you trying to be an authority on what to do when you travel to these places? Are you looking to become the place people go to read about traveling to Asia? or are you just putting up articles to rank for keywords in the travel niche? If you are just trying to rank in Search Engines to grab traffic to filter to ad sources etc then forget about spending a lot of time sharing stuff on social networks. Spend your time getting backlinks from domains that have some authority and are relevant to the niche. If you want to be a destination for a specific tribe of people, then you need to niche down your site and become the authority on a particular sub-niche within the travel niche and make coming to the site a destination that is easy for those people to get what they need. Right now that site looks like a site I would use to sell backlinks on to people in the travel niche. (Not trying to sound harsh). If you want to be an authority and are providing the kind of content that people would share, then use social media. Just my 2 cents.
Links ans social media are the way to go. Unfortunately, social media will take a long time to build. In addition to what's has already been mentioned, use Yahoo Answers and Craigslist to build links. Don't forget about building an email list. This is and always will be a powerful tool to spread the word about your site, regardless of what Google and others think!
You may check what your competitor's are doing with the same keyword . After Google's new algorithm update social media is trending. So concentration on Social Media like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon and Pinterest. This may help you
It's normal for your web traffic to decrease if you stopped doing something. Like if you wrote 5 articles per week and now you only have the time to write 2 articles, your website will rank worse in Google. If you need traffic, you can always try Social Media sites (Facebook & Twitter!). But for SEO, you could try Social Bookmarking sites, Article and Forum marketing and of course Guest blogging!
Don't believe search engine traffic. Try to create a facebook page relevant to your site. Get likes. Post and drive traffic to your site. Another one method - Collect emails - Send regular news letter.
You’ll need a play with the keywords (try targeting keywords that have good monthly searches). Whenever I am optimizing my site or my blog, I make sure I have the best keywords. I use Keyword Country to find the most popular and geographically active keywords in my niche. Once you have a list of popular keywords: - Contribute in social networking sites (Post on related wall pages) - Submit RSS feeds to feed directories - Invite other bloggers to guest post - Write guest posts for blogs related to your niche - Share viral content (images, text, videos etc) - Offer valuable information and make your website user-friendly (for repeated traffic) If you are not on a budget, you might also like jumping into PPC. It gives instant results.
