Web store software, what to get?

    Hi all

I am looking for a fairly simple software that I can make a web store with that will look pretty good and professional.

I have been trying to work with cube cart, but it has too many simple limitations that I can't change as I am no good with code. For example getting rid of something simple like making the customer enter an address to pay. The script just isnt workable enough for someone like me.

One requirement though is it must be easily integrated with PAYPAL.

Thanks all, look forward to hearing from you.

There are quite a few types of carts to use besides CubeCart, have you considered others?

I agree with White Monkey. osCommerce is the bees knees. Invest some time and/or money into a nice site design, install some SEO contributions, and you're set.

would like to use oscommerce, like cubecart it has some thinks i cant get around.

    1) I dont want users to have to register to purchase
    2) I want to edit the payment details required. There are certain new fields I need and many that I dont require that it has.

    So thats my big problem
And integration with VBulletin would be great, but I am doubtful of ever finding that,

Check out virtuemart, it's joomla's shopping cart module.

If you can't find anything that you can edit yourself, you may be better off paying someone $20 to do it.

oscommerce.. you will need to install the paypal contribution for it to work how you want. I also recommend the SEO hack for se friendly URLS and such.

I run a few diff stores and have not run into any issues.

Graphical customizations are not that tough to implement either...

there are lots of oscommerce coders around. You may just have to hire one for relatively cheap through something like RentACoder and have them take out/add the things you need.

I think Avactis Shopping Cart will meet ALL your requirements. It supports PayPal and many other payment methods. Also the main advantage of this shopping cart - easy storefront design customization. No programming skills required. Just check their forums what users say about Avactis customization features.

We run a couple of oscommerce stores with modifications for SEO URls and Paypal and several others.

I think your choice depends on your budget and level of coding skill.

oscommerce is free and the mods are free. There is a huge community similar to this one that will help you.

Layout what you want the store to do, find those mods upfront and overtime youll save money.

If you can afford monthly or yearly fees go with someone like mostercommerce.

My vote goes to Virtuemart, too.
That if you don't mind running it as a Joomla extension, and not a standalone script.

If you decide to use osc, there are many contributions that will allow you to customize your cart and allow you to bypass registration. Just be sure when configuring your store that you back up at every stage and that you also have test versions running locally so that you test each contribution before installing in your final.
